September 2026 Paycheck Data Watch: Four Labor Releases to Follow

Published September 2, 2026 · Updated September 2, 2026

What the official calendar says

The Bureau of Labor Statistics has four September releases that are especially relevant to paycheck decisions:

  • The August Employment Situation is scheduled for September 4.
  • Employer Costs for Employee Compensation for June is scheduled for September 9.
  • The August Consumer Price Index and Real Earnings releases are scheduled for September 11.
  • State Employment and Unemployment for August is scheduled for September 18.

Release dates can move. The linked BLS calendar is the source of record for timing.

What it means for your paycheck

These reports answer different questions. The Employment Situation and state employment release describe hiring and unemployment conditions. Employer compensation data adds the value of benefits and employer-paid costs. CPI and Real Earnings help show whether wage growth is keeping up with prices.

None of them changes your withholding formula on release day. Their practical value is context: a nominal raise can still reduce purchasing power if prices rise faster, while a tight labor market may improve your negotiating position.

How PaycheckForge will use the releases

We will verify the official release before changing any editorial interpretation. Salary and tax calculations will continue to use their documented deterministic data sources. A labor-market headline will never overwrite tax tables or salary data automatically.

Use the Pay Raise Calculator to compare a proposed raise with your current take-home pay, or open the Salary Explorer for wage-percentile context.
