Official BLS wage benchmark + 2026 tax model

Salary Range, Take-Home & Relocation Explorer

Put a real offer beside the official state wage distribution, compare two offers on the same annual and monthly basis, and estimate the destination salary needed to preserve a broad regional price-adjusted take-home benchmark.

Official thresholds, no fake precision. The range uses published BLS P10, P25, P50, P75 and P90 annual wages. PaycheckForge reports the band containing your salary, not an interpolated exact percentile.

This uses annualized tax liability, not an employer's Form W-4 / Publication 15-T withholding. Local taxes and some state-specific credits or payroll taxes are excluded. Top rate includes the 1% Mental Health Services Tax over $1M. CA SDI payroll tax (1.3% in 2026) is not modeled.

What this comparison can tell you

The five BLS thresholds describe the published state wage distribution for an occupation. Your marker uses dollar distance from P10 to P90, while the written result identifies only the official threshold band containing your salary. The take-home ledger then applies PaycheckForge's 2026 annual tax-liability model. When you add a second offer, annual and monthly take-home are normalized so different pay schedules do not distort the comparison. For different states, the relocation lens applies official BEA Regional Price Parities and solves for the destination gross salary that produces roughly the same regional price-adjusted annual net.

It cannot determine whether an employer is underpaying you, your exact percentile, an entry-level rate, a maximum salary, or what your employer will withhold on the next check. The relocation result is not a personal cost-of-living guarantee. Experience, specialty, employer, metro area, housing, household needs and benefits still matter.
